Monthly Members' Meeting

The Harlow U3A Monthly Members' Meeting is usually on the 4th Monday of the month (3rd Monday if the 4th falls on a Bank Holiday) at The Link, Parsloe Road, Harlow, CM19 4RT from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Check-in starts at 09:30 - please do not enter the venue before this time.

The venue is served by the No. 5 bus service. (Bus Station to Sumners Farm)

Tea and coffee is available on arrival in the Bar area. Members are asked to pay £1 donation for hot drinks and, if possible, bring their own cup to reduce waste.

Members are able to sign up for the visits and outings which have been organized by our V & O Team from 10:00 a.m. Forthcoming trips can be found on our Meetings and Events page and are also published in our monthly newsletter.

From 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. members and visitors have the opportunity to look around, have coffee, talk to Group Facilitators, pay for upcoming trips (V&O), buy a raffle ticket or meet members of the Committee.

Former BBC Reporter, Brian Curtois, relayed his experiences
as a journalist.

All current groups are listed via a link on the Groups page, where you will find links to contact the facilitators.

You will probably be met at the door by friendly members of our "Meet and Greet" group. Their job is to make sure everyone, especially new members, find their way around and able to connect with groups and other members. We can always use more "Meet and Greeters" to help meetings run smoothly and make sure no one feels left out or alone. Contact Geoff Longster Members Monthly Meeting + Meet and Greet

Information about meetings is also published in our monthly newsletter, which is distributed by email to members and it is also available via a link on the Welcome Page.

Health & Safety Regulations limit the number of people who can occupy the room - the number of available seats is the limit.

This gives us the opportunity to hear about other people's experiences, hobbies and interests on a wide range of topics. For three meetings during the year there are different activities, a quiz in August and social events in April and December. Any ideas for meeting activities are welcome. At about 10:45 a.m. the Chair will make announcements and introduce the invited speaker, who will finish the presentation at noon.

In 2024 our speakers included historians, journalists, a prison governor, Scene of Crime Investigator and a Pets As Therapy trainer and handler.

Visitors are welcome at every meeting and often use the opportunity to help them decide if they would like to join Harlow u3a; there is a £2 entrance fee for visitors. It is possible to join Harlow u3a at the meeting: pick up an application form to complete there and then or send at a later date to our Membership Secretary, Chris. She can usually be found at the check-in desk on entry.

Members formed teams to participate in our Summer Quiz which took place at August's General Meeting.
