u3a members enjoy the camaraderie, social interaction and fun that comes with being an active member.

We are delighted to welcome you to Harlow u3a's website and to share with you the opportunities, activities and events our 600+ members enjoy.
The member-run groups are at the heart of the u3a: our aim is to provide a wide range of activities and every encouragement, and support, is given to start new groups when fresh interests are identified . Currently we have 52 interest groups which are led by volunteer facilitators and members manage their own arrangements and expenses, subject to general guidelines and rules on cash handling. Check theĀ Groups pageĀ for a flavour and variety of interests/activities and to find more details on groups that interest you. Contact information and meeting times of current groups are available via the Groups page links.
Harlow u3a holds monthly General Meetings which usually take place on the 4th Monday of the month from 10.00 -12.30pm. At the meetings, which take place at The Link Social Club, Parsloe Road Harlow CM20 4RT, members have the opportunity to socialise with friends, book trips and enjoy the presentation from our Guest Speaker. ( Recent speakers have included a BBC reporter, historians, Burlesque dancer, prison governor to name a few.) Meeting dates and details can be found on the Events page. Details are also published in our monthly newsletter.
Harlow and Surrounding Areas u3a was formed January 2008 and dissolved April 2022, when its assets were transferred to Harlow u3a CIO.

About The u3a
The u3a is an international learning and social organisation, operated by and for "3rd Agers" on a voluntary, self-funded basis.
U3A members are typically retired or semi-retired from paid employment and wish to share their skills, interests and experience with others. There are no age qualifications. Harlow U3A provides many opportunities to try new hobbies and activities, to socialize, and join others supporting the community in volunteer roles. Members have the opportunity to join "Interest Groups" that are the "heart" of the organisation.
In the UK, the national umbrella organization, The Third Age Trust ("TAT"), is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. Harlow u3a is an operationally independent affiliate of TAT and from April 2022 operates as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). All our trustees, and others who organise and run our activities, do so on a voluntary basis, a core U3A principle.
